OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To assist Member States in improving the health across neonatal, childhood, adolescent, and all components of reproductive health, by ensuring universal access to quality, evidence-based promotive, preventive and life-saving interventions at all levels of the health care delivery system through health system strengthening based on primary health care.
Description of duties:
1. Provides technical support to Member States in the development of maternal and reproductive health-related policies, strategies, plans and activities, in a coordinated manner with WHO staff in country offices, regional office and Headquarters and other key partners in maternal, child health and nutrition in line with the global strategy for reproductive health;

2. Builds capacity in the Region to take to scale evidence-based interventions and improve the quality of care in maternal, neonatal, reproductive health through integrated approaches;

3. Reviews, monitors and evaluates interventions and activities for maternal and reproductive health through surveys and programme reviews according to established protocols; builds consensus on measurement of key indicators, and collate such indicators periodically to monitor progress; and

4. Prepares and disseminate evidence-based recommendations based on technical reports, guidelines and expert consultations, and advocates for WHO initiatives in maternal and child health.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University degree in medicine, nursery or midwifery with master's degree in public health, hospital administration, epidemiology or equivalent are essential. Completed residency, fellowship, postdoctoral equivalent training in related area, such as obstetrics, gynaecology or nursing with maternal focus an advantage.
Skills:
1. Sound technical knowledge of key maternal and reproductive health interventions, health sector responses and public health strategies to improve maternal and reproductive health.
2. Knowledge and skills in project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
3. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Capacity to plan and conduct operational activities with political and technical elements.
5. Ability to establish harmonious working relationships as part of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
6. Ability to demonstrate gender equity and cultural appropriateness in the delivery of services to Member States.
7. Report writing. Excel data analysis software (e.g. Stata).

Experience:
At least seven years of national and international experience in planning, management, implementation, evaluation, quality component and policy advise of maternal and reproductive health interventions and programmes in the health sector. Knowledge in health systems strengthening UHC research, generation of evidence and in critical analysis of evidence, especially in the area of maternal, reproductive and women's health an asset.
Languages:
Written and spoken fluency in English is essential. Working knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 67 611 at single rate
USD 72 605 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 51.6 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
