OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The overall objective of the programme is To combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
The objective of the immediate unit is to strengthen the government capacity in coordinating national response to reduce morbidity mortality, disability and deformity caused by tuberculosis through provision of support in major critical components of the service delivery system; and to address the issues of drug resistance in order to reach the target of the TB control programme including Millennium Development Goal (MDG) targets.
Objective of the specific activity is to develop plan for pre-survey visit, survey operation, monitoring of field activities, data collection, data analysis report writing and quality assurance of laboratory activities to complete the TB Prevalence survey within expected time period.
Description of duties:
Under the overall guidance of the WHO Representative to Bangladesh and direct supervision of the WHO National Professional Officer , the incumbent will work to support the activities as detailed below:

- Liaise and coordinate with the National TB Control Programme, Principal Investigator and the team on regular basis.
- Provide assistance in assessment, mapping sites, planning of pre-survey visits within three months.
- Support in preparation and implementation of training for related personnel within six months.
- Coordination in procurement and supply management at field sites within six months.
- Participate in supervision of field operation and activities.
- Monitoring field operations and reporting activities to the Principal Investigator and provide support to strengthen implementation as per protocol.
- Collaborate with the National TB Control Programme and all stake holders and update the status of the on-going survey.
- Support in preparation of reports and analysis data monthly.
- Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential : MBBS from a recognized Medical College with valid Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council registration and Master in Public Health (MPH)

Desirable : Training in Tuberculosis and Research.
Skills:
Functional Skills and Knowledge:

Essential : Demonstrated ability to work in harmony with national/international staff/expert. Excellent writing skills including ability to present technical information, ability to produce results.

Desirable: Good knowledge of WHO/UN administrative and financial rules, processes and procedures.

Core Competencies:

- Knowing and managing yourself.
- Ensuring the effective use of resources.
- Creating an empowering and motivating environment.

Other skills: Basic knowledge in Office 2010 or more. Familiarity with MS office environment. Presentation skills and or training skills in an asset.
Experience:
Essential : At least 10 years of experience in public health field or research projects or survey programs.

Desirable : Extensive practical experience of working in the area of health research, or health planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written both in English and Bengali
