Organization unit:
The mission of the Initiative for Vaccine Research (IVR) is to accelerate the development and optimal use of safe and effective vaccines and related technologies, especially in developing countries. IVR focuses on projects of potential high impact for infectious diseases control in accordance with the Organization disease control priorities, and with the goal of enabling Member States to take an increasing share in disease control efforts. IVR takes an active role in promoting and implementing the research agenda of the Global Vaccine Action Plan ( IVR promotes research in the areas of product development, programme implementation and in support of policy development.
Description of duties:
Under direct guidance of IVR's influenza focal point, provide overall project management support, covering the following type of activities:
- Assist in preparation of technical documents and draft non-technical documents/reports, including donor reports, and ensure smooth running of WHO clearance processes;
- Conduct project management and work-planning, including tracking of project management initiatives linked to budgets, contracted projects, and technical consultations;
- Coordinate internal and external meetings and assure follow-up;- Develop tools and databases to be used for project management and progress monitoring of activities;
- Commission, draft, and administer clearance processes of WHO technical services agreements and other contracts, such as consultancies, including the necessary operations in WHO's management software (GSM);
- Upon request, provide other assistance and support to IVR activities as may be required.
First university degree in management, project management or a related field.*
Training in a health/scientific field.

Ability to perform project management tasks; knowledge of project management and administrative requirements, oversight and clearance requirements at WHO; ability to work with quantitative data, such as in databases, statistics and data analysis; proven organizational and drafting skills; very good computer skills, including experience with project management software (such as Microsoft Project); ability to work in teams as well as independently; thoroughness and ability to plan and execute work in accordance with deadlines; excellent analytical skills complemented by good interpersonal and communication skills.

At least 2 years of international experience in project management related to public health, epidemiology or vaccines. Demonstrated working experience in an international context with administrative procedures associated with the assigned duties. Experience in management of quantitative data and/or databases.
Expert knowledge of English.
Beginner's knowledge of French.

USD 46,819 at single rate
