The objective of the Country Collaboration Program (CCP) are to further control communicable diseases and decrease mother and child mortality through quality and safety improvements (cold chain management, vaccines procurement, rational use of medicine, health technologies inspection and control), strengthening of the surveillance system, revision of national programs based on available evidence, and better coordination and integration within the health system.
Description of duties:
Purpose of the Post:
To provide timely implementation of key activities for surveillance and control of communicable disease (with a focus on vaccine preventable diseases and zoonosis) and related programs (pharmaceuticals and health technologies, mother and child health), based on the values and principles of primary health care.

Organizational Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Health System Adviser and the overall guidance of the WHO Representative in Tunisia , the incumbent will establish and maintain contacts with the Ministry of health, other institutions with direct collaboration with WHO and regional advisors at the Regional Office. The incumbent will facilitate the collaboration with Ministry of Health with a primary focus on surveillance and control of communicable disease (with a focus on vaccine preventable diseases and zoonosis) and related programs (pharmaceuticals and health technologies, mother and child health). He/she will facilitate the implementation as previously agreed in the work plan and will regularly inform the Health System Adviser and WR about progress and need for reprogramming or any other activity.

Summary of Assigned Duties:
The incumbent will perform the following duties:
-To ensure technical and operational implementation of WCO country collaborative program (CCP) and participate in the planning, monitoring and the evaluation of all CCP activities related to surveillance and control of communicable diseases (with a focus on vaccine preventable diseases and zoonosis), pharmaceuticals and health technologies (vaccines procurement and logistics, rational use of medicines, laboratories controls, etc.), and mother and child health (maternal and neonatal mortality, school-based programs).
-To liaise and correspond with national authorities and Regional Advisers in the Regional Office (RO) to ensure development and monitoring and evaluation of all collaborative activities in the areas of specific competence.
-To develop/revise training modules and capacity building of staff involved in routine immunization.
-To upgrade the supply chain of vaccines and implementation of a computerized information system on all aspects of vaccination.
-To provide technical advice in integration of mother and child health, communicable and NCDs in district health system.
-To contribute technically in increasing access of the people to quality people centered integrated health services.
-To provide technical guidance on the integration of other interventions in routine immunization to contribute to the improvement of child survival.
-To organize and facilitate national workshops and conferences, write relevant reports as well as technical reports on implementation of activities.
University Degree in Medicine.

Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH). Training in bacteriology and virology and epidemiology as well as Training in family planning.

 Sound knowledge of WHO mandate and goals for communicable disease control and surveillance.
 Skills in vaccine and supply management.
 Skills in training and developing training material.

Other Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of statistical software packages; Log Tag analyser and Web VSSM sites would be an advantage.
Overall 2 years of relevant experience, inclusive of experience with national immunization programs and in the field of public health dealing with temperature sensitive health products and cold chain.

Previous experience working with or in UN organizations/agencies, international institutions or NGOs.
Excellent knowledge of French and Arabic, with a good working knowledge of English.
