Prepare budget to actual reports and follow-up with regions for deviations. Suggest necessary corrective actions for the variation. Work on harmonization of budget preparation across the Organization for category 6 "Corporate Services/Enabling Functions" . Assist in the year-end financial report preparation and liaise with the translation / editing / printing units.
Description of duties:
The incumbent will perform the following finance functions:
a) Monitor the budget to actual expenditure, including reporting on implementation versus budget and provide regular reports on financial implementation for regions, clusters and category leads.
b) Analyse administrative and management actuals versus budget and prepare appropriate reports to senior management, identifying problems and opportunity in cost control.
c) Seek clarifications on the budget to actual variances for category 6 "Corporate Services/Enabling Functions" across all levels of the Organization and request corrective action when necessary.
d) Prepare a "Statement of Comparison of Budget and Actual Amounts" for the WHO Financial report, including notes and supporting schedules.
e) Help with the financial report preparation, including all aspects of of its finalization.
f) Assist with preparation of regular "Financial Updates" in order to provide regular and ad hoc financial information to support senior management in informed financial decision making.
g) Participate and facilitate harmonization of category 6 budget development across all levels of the Organization.
h) Assist with review, reconciliation and clearance of Accounting Services (ACT) managed accounts.
i) Participate in implementation of the General Management System (GSM) transformation project of ACT.
j) Oher duties as assigned.
University degree in accounting, financial management or business administration plus Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA or its equivalent.*

Demonstrated skills and experience in finance and accounting management.
Ability to perform detailed financial analysis and reporting.
Mature judgement and ability to detect potential errors or control weaknesses.
Comprehensive knowledge of general principles of accounting and international accounting standards.
Very good knowledge and skills in the use of modern integrated accounting systems.
Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
A team player.

At least 5 years of professional responsibility and experience in accounting or financial management.
Proven data analysis experience.
Strong MS Excel experience.

Previous work experience within a large corporation, national, multinational or international and working experience with ERP systems.
Knowledge of WHO financial system, specific business and administrative processes an advantage.
Expert knowledge of English.

Beginners knowledge of French.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 56198 at single rate
USD 60205 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 106.2 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
