Ensure the safety and quality of food and water available to the inhabitants within Regional Office, Djoue premises through regular laboratory monitoring and inspection of the premises and the staff canteens.
Description of duties:
Under the guidance and supervision of Administrative Services Officer (ASO), the incumbent performs the following duties:
1. Monitor purchasing procedures and quality of raw ingredients to ensure compliance to established food safety protocols;
2. Evaluate raw ingredient and finished product to ensure compliance to microbiological specifications;
3. Observe on-site food storage, preparation and serving practices and communicate corrective action as required;
4. Verify sanitation procedures through pre-operational inspection and microbial swab analysis;
5. Perform microbiological analysis of food samples and take appropriate action based on results;
6. Conduct regular training on food hygiene for catering staff;
7. Perform on the spot checks of catering facilities;
8. Ensure that contaminated food is segregated and appropriate follow up actions are taken: Water quality;
- Conduct daily microbiological and chemical analysis of source water samples from the wells situated on the compound;
- Carry out quality tests on microbiological and chemical analysis of samples from the accommodations to ensure they are conform to international norms;
- Collect quarterly water samples for packaging and shipment to an accredited laboratory for quality assurance purposes;
- Advice on corrective actions to be undertaken in case of contamination;
- Perform any other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

Essential: Medical degree in Microbiology and/or post-graduate qualification in microbiology.

Desirable: Post graduate degree in Microbiology or Medical degree with post-graduate qualification in microbiology.

- Capable of conducting microbiological and chemical analysis of water;
- Capable of conducting microbiological analysis of food;
- Carrying inspection of food premises and advising on corrective actions ;
- Elaborating standard operational procedures for the laboratory and the catering facilities;

-Proficiency in computer skills.

Essential: Five years of experience in working in a food and water microbiology laboratory.

Desirable: Previous experience in working in an enteric microbiology laboratory, Strong ability to act
strategically, organize work in the laboratory and ensure its smooth functioning, Ability to organize
and interpret findings for correct action.

Excellent knowledge of French and working knowledge of English.
