OBJECTIFS DU PROGRAMME
To provide expertise and high-quality immunization services to all communities of the Member States in the WHO African Region, in order to prevent morbidity, mortality and disability from diseases which are preventable through the optimum use of currently available vaccines and vaccines to become available.

Description des fonctions
1.Providing technical assistance and building capacity of national immunization staff to plan and implement activities aiming at increasing and sustaining routine vaccination coverage (at least 90% coverage at national level and 80% coverage in each district) based on appropriate technical policies and guidelines;
2.Providing technical support to Member States for the development of integrated innovative service delivery approaches including collaboration with child and adolescent health programmes;
3.Assisting countries in establishing a reliable routine immunization monitoring, supervision and information systems that includes collection, analysis and use of vaccine preventable diseases surveillance data;
4.Establishing a regional-level monitoring system of country immunization performance that provides regular feedback and information sharing to ISTs and countries;
5.Advising and advocating for coordination of partner support, including commitment and ownership of national immunization programmes;
6.Supporting Member States in establishing and strengthening strong partnership coordination mechanisms at country and inter-country levels;
7.Develop resource mobilization plans for supporting immunization programmes in the African Region;
8.Supporting Member States and collaborating with partners on the issues related to advocacy and effective communication for national immunization programmes.
9.Perform any other duties as assigned by the first and second level supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Formation :
Essential: Medical degree from a recognized university as well as a post-graduate degree in epidemiology and/or public health.

Desirable: Specialized training in public health would be an asset.

Compétences :
Must have a clear understanding and knowledge of the epidemiology of vaccine preventable diseases;
Must have expertise in monitoring and evaluating regional public health initiatives;
Must be able to transfer his/her knowledge to others;
Must be an effective team player at both national and international levels.

Proficiency in the use of data management and statistical software.


Expérience :
Essential: At least 7 years of experience in planning, monitoring and evaluating immunization programme operations at the national or international level.

Desirable: Public health field experience in the African setting would be a distinct advantage.

Langues :
Excellent knowledge of English or French with a good working knowledge of the other language.
