OBJECTIFS DU PROGRAMME
To support the 47 Member States in providing high-quality immunization services to all communities in order to prevent mortality, morbidity and disability from diseases which are preventable through the optimum use of currently available vaccines and vaccines that become available periodically.

Description des fonctions
The incumbent acts as the regional focal point responsible for immunization and vaccines capacity building activities. Specifically, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
a)Develop strategies and methods for IVE capacity building and participate in the design of the global and regional capacity building frameworks;
b)Provide technical support to ISTs and WHO Country Offices in planning, evaluating and coordinating capacity building activities and assist Member States to improve their institutional capacity by: strengthening their staffing plans and adopting approaches to improve the culture of excellence, self-motivation and self-achievement; and assisting in the revision of ToRs for immunization health personnel;
c)Promote skills development within the region to allow immunization staff provide stronger technical and managerial support to countries in a sustainable manner. In this connection, develop appropriate training materials, especially integrated training modules; train core teams within the region who in turn would train staff within their respective office; and promote integrated on-site training through formative supervision;
d)Coordinate all immunization capacity building activities with other training officers located within other WHO/AFR technical clusters to enhance interaction and integration between clusters;
e)Work with specialized institutions to build capacity within the region in the area of: service delivery; integrated disease surveillance; logistics and cold chain; advocacy/communications; and management.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Formation :
Essential: Post-graduate degree from a recognized university in medical sciences and in medical education.

Desirable: Specialized training in public health would be an asset.

Compétences :
* Must have a clear understanding and knowledge of public health;
* Must have expertise in developing and utilizing standard capacity building data for monitoring programme and individual performance;
*Must be able to transfer his/her knowledge to others;
*Must be able to interact in both health pre-and in-service training;
* Must be an effective team player at both national and international levels.

Proficiency in the use of basic software.

Expérience :
Essential: At least 7 years of international public health experience in capacity building activities. Technical expertise in planning, monitoring & evaluating policies and programme implementation. Ability to lead training teams and train people. Extensive experience working in developing countries. Excellent professional communications and advocacy skills (both verbal and written).

Desirable: Public health field training experience, especially within the immunization area in the African setting would be a distinct advantage.

Langues :
Fluent in English or French with a working knowledge of the other.

USD 67,611 fonctionnaire sans personnes à charge
USD 72,605 fonctionnaire avec personnes à charge au premier degré
Ajustement de Poste: 74.6 % des montants mentionnés ci-dessus. Ce pourcentage n'a qu'une valeur indicative et peut varier, chaque mois, à la hausse ou à la baisse.
