OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Family, Gender and Life Course (FGL) department of the Pan American Health Organization promotes, coordinates and implements technical cooperation at the regional, sub regional and country levels, emphasizing the central role of the family and community to foster a culture of health promotion and protection in which health is a social value and a human right. FGL focuses on the development and implementation of programs for women and men's health; sexual and reproductive health; maternal and neonatal health; the integrated health and development of children and adolescents; the health of aging populations; food and nutrition; comprehensive family immunization; and gender, equity and cultural diversity approaches.

Description of duties:
Under the general supervision of the Director, Family, Gender and Life Course (FGL), and the direct supervision of the Unit Chief, Comprehensive Family Immunization (FGL/IM), the incumbent is responsible for, but not necessarily limited, to the following assigned duties:

a) Provide technical support for the implementation of the ProVac Initiative; a project that supports country decision-making on the introduction of new vaccines;
b) Assist country teams in performing immunization program costing studies and economic analyses of new vaccines;
c) Support the development of training materials for country implementation and use in workshop settings;
d) Coordinate the development and publication of a special journal supplement on "Implementation of the evidence-based in countries for decision-making on new vaccine introduction";
e) Support the identification of synergies and foster collaboration between the ProVac Initiative and the Project "Better Immunization Data Quality (DQ) and Electronic Immunization Registries (EIR) for Better Immunization Coverage" (DQ-EIR);
f) Assist in the development and management of the work plan and timetable for implementation of the DQ-EIR;
g) Contribute to the development and implementation of the work plan and timetable for the DQ-EIR project. Support the coordination of country activities related to ProVac and the DQ-EIR;
h) Foster collaboration between the Comprehensive Family Immunization Unit (FGL/IM) and the Office of Legal Counsel (LEG) for more effective country support on vaccine legislation;
i) Perform other related duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A bachelor's degree in health or social sciences from a recognized university.

Technical Expertise
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of vaccines-preventable diseases; program costing and economic evaluations.

- Sound judgment, strong technical, analytical and conceptual skills; demonstrated ability to assess, analyze, synthesize and provide recommendation on key managerial and administrative issues;
- Ability to integrate managerial and administrative inputs into recommendations for decision-making process; ability to manage multiple issues and tasks in a complex organizational environment
- Strong professional oral and writing skills including the development of reports, oral presentations, and technical/persuasive documents for consideration at the highest levels of the Organization.

IT Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively use a computer and utilize software programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook. Other IT skills and knowledge of other software programs such as Visio and Project would be an asset.
Experience:
Three years of combined national and international work experience related to project coordination and/or program costing/ economic evaluations in health.
Languages:
Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
Additional Information:
PAHO offers an attractive compensation package including an annual net salary (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), dependency benefits, pension plan, health insurance scheme, and 30 days annual leave. Benefits for internationally recruited staff may include travel and removal expenses on appointment and separation, assignment grant, rental subsidy, and home leave.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
US$ 37,273.00 at single rate
US$ 39,514.00 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 50.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
