The Department of Governing Bodies provides support to WHO's governing bodies in order to assure both sound governance of the Organization through efficient preparation and conduct of their sessions, and effective policy-making processes.
Description of duties:
Main objectives are to ensure high-quality editing and timely production of documentation and to contribute to the preparation of records during governing body sessions. The incumbent
(1) takes editorial responsibility for the substance (accuracy and consistency) and form (style, terminology, presentation) of official documentation in English (usually the original language) used for the deliberations of the governing bodies or to embody their discussions, resolutions and decisions. Edits and proofreads these texts, ensuring their timely production and the coordination of their original English edition with editions in other official languages
(2) contributes to the smooth running of the records service for governing body sessions; and
(3) performs other related duties as required.
Education: A first level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status. *For WHO staff please see e-manual III.4.1, para 220. Candidates for this position must have passed the relevant United Nations Competitive Examination for Editors.
Thorough familiarity with editorial processes.

A minimum of two years of experience in editing. Experience in précis- and report-writing.

Experience of conference and records work in an international organization.
Expert knowledge of English required.
Expert knowledge of French would be desirable.
Additional Information:
A written test may be used for screening purposes.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 46730 at single rate
USD 49821 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
