OBJECTIFS DU PROGRAMME
- To provide technical support for planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation of infant and young child feeding interventions; exclusive breastfeeding, breastfeeding counselling and HIV/Infant feeding counseling, Complementary feeding, micronutrient supplementation and other related issues within the context of child survival and HIV/AIDS, in response to regional and national needs and priorities;
- To develop child health (including infant and young child feeding) tools, norms, guidelines and standards in collaboration with partners within and outside WHO;
- To collaborate in the coordination of infant and young child feeding activities in the Region, with relevant AFRO, HQ departments and partners;
- Promote and/or strengthen strategic partnerships and mobilize resources to scale up exclusive breastfeeding and complimentary feeding interventions in the region
Description des fonctions
Under the guidance of the Director for Health Promotion Cluster, WHO/AFRO the incumbent will:-
1) Provide leadership in supporting the development and implementation of national policies and strategies to strengthen breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding practices in the African Region in the context of the WHO comprehensive implementation plan (CIP) on maternal, infant and young child nutrition;
2) Support countries in building capacity to implement child survival interventions including promoting optimal infant and young child feeding practices, particularly in relation to HIV/AIDS;
3) Strengthen collaboration with relevant WHO programmes and other partners, particularly UNICEF, in support of optimal infant and young child feeding practices in countries in the context of child survival;
4) Support countries and partners in undertaking operational research in priority infant and young child feeding problems to provide evidence for the development of interventions and programmes;
5) Support periodic reviews of national guidelines for child survival and infant feeding recommendations based on available evidence;
6) Promote the use of indicators and methodologies to monitor and evaluate progress in infant and young child nutrition in the WHO African region;
7) Carry out other assignments within his/her area of expertise as may be required by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Formation :
Essential: Degree in Medicine or Ph.D in Nutrition with Postgraduate degree in Pediatrics, or Master of Public Health ( MPH).

Desirable: University degree in public policy or programme management or training in Infant Nutrition, HIV/AIDS and Child Health including Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI).
Compétences :
- Broad knowledge and skills in child health, child nutrition and Infant feeding;
- Technical and programme management competencies in child nutrition and Infant feeding;
- Knowledge and skills in training, research, monitoring and evaluation;
- Strong communication skills (written and oral);
- Ability to negotiate and develop partnership at all levels;
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship at national and international levels.
- Data management and computer literacy, in word-processing, Excel and electronic communication technology.
Expérience :
Essential: At least seven years' experience in senior managerial position and/or in clinical practice, including at least 5 years' experience in senior programme management in child health or nutrition. Experience with the integration of HIV/AIDS activities related to infant and young child feeding at national, district, community and primary health care levels;

Desirable: Experience in planning, implementation, research, monitoring, evaluation related to child health or infant feeding at regional, national and district level. Understanding of and experience working with global or regional partnerships and networks.
Langues :
Excellent knowledge of French or English and a working knowledge of the other. Working knowledge of Portuguese will be an advantage.

US$ 67,483 fonctionnaire sans personnes à charge
US$ 72,467 fonctionnaire avec personnes à charge au premier degré
Ajustement de Poste: 65.3 % des montants mentionnés ci-dessus. Ce pourcentage n'a qu'une valeur indicative et peut varier, chaque mois, à la hausse ou à la baisse.
