HQ/NMC - Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (HQ/NMC)
The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (, hosted by the World Health Organization is a partnership of over 500 organizations from seven constituencies:
governments; UN and multilateral organizations; donors and foundations; non-governmental organizations; healthcare professional associations; academic, research and training institutions; and
the private sector. The vision of the Partnership is the achievement of the MDGs, with women and children enabled to realize their right to the highest attainable standard of health. PMNCH will work towards this goal by supporting the alignment of Partners' strategic directions and catalyzing collective action to promote universal access to essential interventions for women's and children's health.
Description of duties:
- Provide support to the Office of the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director of PMNCH with the preparation of presentations, speeches, technical briefings and meeting documents, as well as day to day coordination of commitments;
- Support the PMNCH Technical Team in the design, construction of the PMNCH work plan, and its monitoring;
- Work with PMNCH technical team, PMNCH Executive Director's Office and PMNCH partners, to maintain a presentation schedule and database for the purposes of high-level political, public and private engagements;
- Provide support to the PMNCH technical team and PMNCH consultants in the preparation and implementation of the PMNCH youth working group strategy, as well as management of related donor portfolio;
- Assist the PMNCH technical team and consultants to coordinate the design and implementation of a PMNCH Adolescent Working Group Strategy;
- Support Donor related activities including meetings, updates and reporting requirements
- Provide support to the Execitive Director in her role on the Reference group and the Deputy Executive Director in the attendance of meetings, preparation of briefings and various external relations activities related to the Family Planning work stream;
- Provide support to the PMNCH team, including in the area of advocacy, in 2014 focusing on the Partners Forum;
- Work with PMNCH technical team to prepare policy briefs, publications, presentations and coordination of meeting speakers and side meetings as required linked to major upcoming meetings, such as PMNCH board meetings, Partners Forum, regional RMNCH meetings, UN General Assembly, etc.
- Accompany staff to selected meetings to support and execute various work plan deliverables.
University degree in Public Health, International Relations or any development-related field.
Post-graduate qualifications highly desirable.
- An ability to synthesize information from a wide range of sources to develop thoughtful and original ideas.
- Experience working with issues related to Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child, external relations and UN policies and procedures highly desirable.
- Strong IT Skills.

- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in a health-related field, including experience in speech writing and in an international organization.
Solid interpersonal and technical experience within high-pressure environments, including in a supportive role within an Executive Office(s) setting.
Expert knowledge of English.

US$49821 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
