OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The main research objectives of the BMA Group are to identify, validate and implement biomarkers in order to better understand the role of environmental and lifestyle factors in cancer aetiology. This includes the study of the role of the diet, physical activity, environmental factors and metabolism on cancer risk. These objectives are achieved through the application of metabolomic approaches to large-scale cohort and case-control studies, as well as to intervention studies.
Description of duties:
Under the supervision of the Scientist, the incumbent performs the following duties:

1/ Carry-out pre-analytical process of biological samples by preparing and extracting plasma, urine and other biological samples for targeted and untargeted metabolomic analyses based on mass spectrometry, according to standard operating procedures.

2/ Participate in the maintenance of the laboratory instruments.

3/ Assist in maintaining the record of biospecimens in freezers.

4/ Maintain the BMA stocks and inform SUP of needs for ordering.

5/ Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from secondary school with scientific orientation or equivalent, plus specialized training as a laboratory technician in biochemistry, recognized by a diploma (BTS, DUT or equivalent).
Skills:
Skillful on following rigourous laboratory methodologies for biological sample processing and running routine laboratory work.
Rigorous in recording all tasks carried out.
Capable to follow and ensure strict safety procedures.
Ability to identify origins of technical problems when they occur and to adapt the work accordingly.
Ability to work in a timely manner and harmoniously as a member of a team that includes diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
Experience:
At least two years' professional experience in laboratory work.
Languages:
Good knowledge of French or English, with working knowledge of the other language.
Additional Information:
This recruitment is restricted to candidates residing up to a maximum of 50 kms from Lyons.

Annual salary: Euro 31,236, net of tax.
