OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To support the 46 Member States in in the African Region in providing high-quality immunization services to all communities in order to prevent mortality, morbidity and disability from diseases which are preventable through the optimum use of currently available vaccines and vaccines that become available periodically.
Description of duties:
Under the direct supervision of the RIN Regional Advisor and the overall guidance of IVD Director, the incumbent will coordinate all regional immunization systems support activities while ensuring to support integration with other public health interventions, surveillance and health systems strengthening by:
1.Providing guidance for the development / revision of national policies, norms and standards in the different areas of immunization systems support (e.g. cold chain, vaccine management, injection safety, etc);
2.Building national capacities in all areas of immunization systems support through development of training materials in supply chain management, supporting regional and national training centres, facilitating orientation and updating workshops/seminars, creating and moderating networks of national supply chain managers and logisticians, etc.;
3.Developing strategies and methods for planning, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of immunization operations at both the national and district level to include service delivery, logistics and supply chain management, equipment/infrastructure management and maintenance;
4.Coordinating immunization logistics programmes at the country and IST levels, including the support to (a) demand forecasting for vaccines and related commodities, (b) effective vaccine stock management (c) the use, maintenance and replacement of IVD vehicle fleet;
5.Providing logistics/cold chain support in emergency and humanitarian action;
6Providing guidance, training and technical support in the area of integrated logistics and supply chain planning and management for health system strengthening;
7.Fostering inter-sectoral collaboration and partnerships in logistics and supply chain management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Post-graduate degree from a recognized university in engineering sciences.
Desirable: Training in immunization Iogistics

Skills:
Technical expertise in the area of immunization systems support (e.g. cold chain, vaccine management, injection safety, etc).
Ability to review and analyze immunization systems data, monitor and present programme progress
Excellent in communication, teaching and organizational skills
Experience:
Essential: At least 7 years of experience in planning, monitoring and evaluating immunization programme operations at the national or international level.
Desirable: Field experience in the implementation of national immunization programmes within the African Region would be an asset
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French with a good working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of Portuguese would be an advantage.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
US$ 67,395 at single rate
US$ 72,373 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 65.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
