Description of duties:
Under the guidance of the Finance Manager and Compliance Team Lead the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

- Assist with review of expenditure data and encumbrances in EURO workplans in the Global Management System (GSM), including review of committal documents, for compliance with WHO's Financial Rules and Regulations;

- Assist with periodic in-depth review of imprest background documentation and related Country Office expenditure;

- Assist with gathering background information for adhoc reports on specified areas of interest for compliance review to Management when requested;

- Review and monitor eImprest accounts and provide support on questions related to eImprest;

- Provide guidance and assistance on General Ledger reconciliations and related financial transactions in the imprest accounts and verify and monitor submissions of monthly imprest returns:

- Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential:
Completion of secondary school education or its equivalent complemented by training in accounting or finance related fields.

Desirable:
University degree in public or business administration or related field from a recognized college or university would be an asset.

Training -

Essential:
Advanced knowledge in the use of integrated financial management and reporting systems.
Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, wordprocessing, presentation and web-based software.

Desirable:
Experience with an ERP system, particularly Oracle is an advantage.

Experience:
Essential:
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the field of accounting, finance or administrative work.

Desirable:
Knowledge of WHO or UN Financial Rules and Regulations an asset.
Languages:
English -

Essential:
To read and understand the precise meaning of a wide variety of written material and the nuances and technical terminology appliacable to the job.
To compose, draft and adapt correspondence and documentation.
To understand and express orally a wide range of information, utilizing an extensive vocabulary, correct grammar and clear pronunciation

Desirable:
Some knowledge of another EURO official language (French, German or Russian) would be an asset to be able to read and understand supporting documentation as well as queries from country office staff.

Knowledge of Danish or other European languages is an advantage.
Additional Information:
This is a LOCAL vacancy and as such, only qualified applicants residing within commuting distance of Copenhagen will be considered.

Candidates under consideration may be required to sit a written test. WHO does not cover any expenses related to participation in tests and/or interviews.

Interviews will take place using a competency-based approach.
