To address the underlying social determinants of health through policies and programmes that enhance health equity and integrate pro-poor, gender-responsive, and human rights-based approaches.
Description of duties:
Under the general supervision of the Technical Officer (Health in Development), the incumbent performs the following functions:

1. Provides assistance and conducts administrative duties and general processing functions for the supervisors and HCF team members, including: drafting of correspondence in an adequate and timely manner; facilitating communication exchange with other offices of WHO, partners and other stakeholders; supporting in the procurement of services and goods; processing logistics in recruitment and selection; performing administrative task in recruitment of interns and HCF staff; coordinating briefing and debriefing schedules; assisting in processing entitlements of staff; organizing duty travels of HCF team members; formatting and finalizing meeting and mission reports; and establishing and maintaining required records, project files and reference materials;

2. Provides administrative support in technical cooperation activities of the HCF unit;

3. Coordinates and monitors project or programme implementation by: facilitating payments to the suppliers; monitoring activity and budget commitments; providing assistance on joint plans with partners and activities of WHO Western Pacific Region working groups related to HCF;

4. Provides administrative support for all aspects of planning and implementing HCF meetings, brown bags, workshops, consultations and trainings;

5. Occasionally replaces secretarial staff within the unit or division during their absence, as coordinated by the Principal Administrative Assistant;

6. Performs other duties as and may be required.
Equivalent to graduation from secondary school with thorough training in secretarial/administrative duties. Relevant higher level diploma or degree is an advantage.
Thorough knowledge of office procedures. Results oriented, good communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to act with tact, diplomacy, discretion and respect for confidentiality. Ability to prepare correspondence, summary of meetings, documentation and notes for the record. Typing skills, good computer skills and ability to learn and use different software applications. Ability to discern routine from non-routine. Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
At least five years' experience in secretarial/administrative posts. Work experience in WHO or in another international organization and/or experience working in a multi-cultural environment is an advantage.
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
