OBJECTIFS DU PROGRAMME
To provide support to the 46 Member States in the WHO African Region to develop policies and strategies and build capacity for the delivery of the health response to HIV/AIDS/STIs and other related diseases. This includes rapidly scaling up access to treatment and care services and accelerating prevention, while strengthening health systems.

Description des fonctions
The incumbent will be expected to perform the following duties:

1. To develop regional strategies for increased and equitable access to HIV prevention services in health systems;

2. To develop regional normative tools, including training materials, on HIV prevention services within health systems;

3. To support ISTs in adapting and monitoring the use of normative tools for HIV prevention and in capacity building at country level for the provision of comprehensive HIV prevention and treatment services, including collaborative efforts with Technical Resource Networks and Centres of Excellence;

4. To provide guidance and technical support to ISTs for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of HIV prevention interventions within the health sector response to HIV/AIDS;

5. To contribute to the work of the AIDS programme related to operational research and the documentation of Best practices in HIV prevention, treatment and care;

6. To collaborate with other AFRO Clusters to ensure that health systems are strengthened to support HIV prevention efforts, to develop strategies and tools for mobilizing other sectors in accelerating HIV prevention and increasing access to youth-friendly reproductive health services;

7. To carry out other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Formation :
Essential: Medical degree with postgraduate degree in Public Health or Degree in Social Sciences with postgraduate degree in Public Health.

Desirable: Postgraduate training in communications.

Compétences :
Extensive knowledge of public health with relevance to HIV/AIDS/STI policies and strategies; Detailed knowledge of WHO procedures and practices is also required including close familiarity with the work of the Regional Office, the Executive Board and the World Health Assembly; Ability to exercise leadership and to work effectively with colleagues at national and international level; Proven ability to plan, execute, supervise and manage a large international health programme; Ability to work in a multicultural environment; Excellent communication skills; Ability to work under pressure.

Computer literacy. Familiarity with software in common use.

Expérience :
Essential: At least 7 years of managing HIV prevention programmes, especially in programme planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, research and training at national level and at least 3 years working at the international level on issues related to HIV prevention, preferably in the UN system.

Desirable: Experiences in capacity building or HIV prevention.

Langues :
Excellent knowledge of English or French with good working knowledge of the other.

USD 67483 fonctionnaire sans personnes à charge
USD 72467 fonctionnaire avec personnes à charge au premier degré
Ajustement de Poste: 65.3 % des montants mentionnés ci-dessus. Ce pourcentage n'a qu'une valeur indicative et peut varier, chaque mois, à la hausse ou à la baisse.
