OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The objective of the Expanded Programme on Immunization is to reduce the morbidity and mortality from diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, hepatitis B and other vaccine-preventable diseases by providing immunization against these diseases. In particular, to ensure that the Western Pacific Region maintains its poliomyelitis-free status and accelerate progress towards measles elimination and hepatitis B control in the Region.
Description of duties:
Under the supervision of Team Leader (Expanded Programme on Immunization) and in coordination with the Surveillance and Data Management Technical Officer, the incumbent performs the following functions:

1. Conducts data management-related tasks such as:

a. Monitor and document submission of country data reports on vaccine preventable disease (VPD) surveillance and laboratory;
b. By observing highest standards of quality in data management, organize, collate, conduct data quality checks, encode and upload data and statistics in the corresponding Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Information System database;
c. Generate data analysis, relevant charts, tables, maps and other printed or electronic related material as requested;
d. Validate statistics before used in reports and presentations of EPI staff within and outside the Regional Office, country offices and Headquarters;
e. Maintain, update and improve/enhance the EPI section of the Regional Office website, as well as other EPI special initiative websites;
f. In coordination with the Information Technology Group (ITG) unit, assist EPI staff in hardware and software troubleshooting;

2. Assists country offices and countries/areas on data analysis and preparation of reports; and

3. Performs other related duties as and when required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from secondary school with thorough training in information technology and applications. University degree in the field of information technology, data management, statistics or public health is an advantage. Advanced formal training on datatabase development and data analysis using Access, Excel, Stata or other statistical tool is an asset.
Skills:
Knowledge in working in an online interactive network setting. Competent level in information and data management, graphic presentation and composition, spreadsheets, word processing, databases and publication. Ability to provide training on the operation of computers and associated peripherals, as well as software applications. Good knowledge of telecommunication and network technologies. Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
Experience:
At least five years' and current experience in data management, generation of tables, maps, presentations, etc. Experience in software and hardware troubleshooting is highly desirable.

491 680 at single rate
