To assist Member States in improving the health and nutrition across neonatal, childhood, adolescent, and all components of reproductive health, by ensuring universal access to quality, evidence-based promotive, preventive and life-saving interventions at all levels of the health care delivery system through health system strengthening based on primary health care.
Description of duties:
Pertaining to intrapartum, post-partum, newborn and child care, in collaboration with priority countries and external consultants, the incumbent will perform the following:

1. Review existing indicators, surveillance and reporting systems, data quality and evaluations;

2. Propose indicators and tools for establishing surveillance and enhanced recording and reporting systems;

3. Support data quality assessments and evaluations of surveillance systems;

4. Support use of data for policy and implementation actions;

5. Support capacity building in surveillance, monitoring, evaluation and implementation research;

6. Undertake related duties as assigned by the Team Leader, Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (MCN).
University degree in Public Health or Epidemiology or Field Epidemiology Training Programme or related training is essential. Postgraduate degree in Public Health or Epidemiology or Field Epidemiology Training Programme or related training is desirable.
Good analytical skills. Ability to establish harmonious working relationships as part of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and maintain a high standard of personal conduct. Ability to demonstrate gender equity and cultural appropriateness in the delivery of technical support to Member States. Working knowledge in the use of databases, spreadsheets and basic statistical programmes.

Minimum two years of relevant work experience in maternal and child health, at national and/or international level is essential. Work experience in field epidemiology is an advantage. Experience in developing and evaluating reporting indicators, evaluating surveillance or reporting systems and designing and conducting public health-related research is desirable.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD46 730 at single rate
USD49 821 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 57.2 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
