Human Resources Management
 
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To provide a various range of services covering the full spectrum of HR activities ranging from talent sourcing to development and management of the human capital of the Regional Office for Africa. It also handles professional conflicts and appeals.
Description of duties:
1. Provide expert advices to the HR community and end-users at large on HR solution offered by the global management systme and its effective use, in order to enable client services to achieve both operational and strategic objectives and individual staff members to easily perform transactions according to their needs and access their personal information as and when they want it;
2. Manage Organization modeling activities for informed HR Policies and facilitate decision-making processes of Executive Management and program managers;
3. Provide high level Human Resources advice and leadership to management regarding staffing-related issues;
4. Interact with Managers to identify staff related-business issues and provide guidance, tools and support to address them;
5. Participate actively in the development of the Human Resources Unit objectives;
6. Administer the monitoring of the performance management system for the organisation. Provide training for managers and employees on performance management and counseling including disciplinary action;
7. Manage Performances of the HR functions thoughout the Region through pre-determined HR metrics;
8. Administer professional conflicts (appeals, terminations, disciplinary measures of a second degree, etc.);
9. Provide Support/Advise to Management in the Staffing Review of Division of the Regional Office and WCOs within the Region as and when required;
10. Represent the Office in inter-organisations meetings and/or working groups on Compensation issues (Cost of Living Survey, Salry Survey...) as and when required:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree in human resources/personnel management, public or business administration, law or social sciences
Desirable: Post graduate degree in any of these disciplines.
Skills:
A thorough knowledge of human resources principles and practices. Proven ability to initiate, plan and manage personnel activities. Tact and discretion in dealing with staff of diverse nationalities. Very good inter-personal and communication skills. Ability to draft correspondence clearly and concisely.
Experience:
At least 7 years of experience in human resources management with some years in a managerial or supervisory position at the international level.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good working of the other. Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
US$ 67,483 at single rate
US$ 72,467 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 65.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
