Within the Department of Human resources, the objectives of the Recruitment, Classification and Organizational Design team (RCO) focuses on the development and implementation of optimum HR strategies in respect of sourcing, staff development and Organizational design issues.In particular, the Classification team provides advice and assistance on all matters of position management and on structural issues, in close collaboration with and through proactive advice to the requesting parties and clients.
Description of duties:
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the post provides a varied set of services in respect of position management to clients at Headquarters and associated organization-entities. The incumbent performs position evaluations and recommends job classification levels and functional titles, ensuring internal grade comparability and consistency across the Organization. The incumbent assists requesting clients in reviewing structures of their work-place-entities, analyzing the given grade structures and proposing where necessary correct post levels; assessing possible gaps/overleaps/duplications and proposing delivery-focused, effective structural alternatives, including making recommendations for the corresponding grades. Liaises with counterparts, HR Administrative - and other specialist staff on post-management related issues with the aim to understand the requirements of the clients and translate these into adequate positions descriptions. Liaises with counterparts within the UN common system family of Organizations for best practice or alternative approaches in respect of particular positions of in the attempt to arrive at models that can serve as generic post descriptions for WHO. Undertakes Desk Audits to assess individual positions in-depth and make recommendation on the corresponding grades and titles. Delivers briefing and training sessions to interested parties on HR planning, classification standards in use, as well as the processes, tools and rules pertaining to post evaluation in WHO. Perform any other related duties of similar scope within the general perimeters of this position. Assists, in developing generic post descriptions which cover the most frequently used duty lines in WHO, studies common office structures with the aim to provide material for the development of generic structures and standardized organigrams.
University degree in a Human Resources management related field, or business or public administration with a specialization in HR related issues.

Formal training in the use of post evaluation tools.

Knowledge of human resources management theories and principles; ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Tact, discretion and ability to deal with highly confidential information. Ability to present information and advice in a clear and logical manner. Ability to write clear and focused job descriptions in English and French.

At least five years of generalist human resources experience, of which at least 2 years of post classification experience, in an international or large-scale national or not-for-profit / public Organization.

Experience in undertaking analytical workplace evaluations highly desirable.
Classification experience in the UN an asset
Excellent knowledge of English and working knowledge of French required.

USD 56,091 at single rate
USD 60,091 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
