HQ/NMC - Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health
The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) is a global entity that seeks to align the efforts of over 460 partners in improving the health of women and children globally. The PMNCH mission is to support partners to align their strategic directions and catalyse collective action to achieve universal access to comprehensive, high-quality reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health care. The Partnership's work is conducted through three Strategic Objectives (SOs), which reflect the Partnership's value proposition and provide the framework for developing individual outputs and activities:
SO 1: Broker knowledge and innovation for action, leading to increased access to, and use of, knowledge and innovations to enhance policy, service delivery and financing mechanisms;
SO 2: Advocate for mobilizing and aligning resources and for greater engagement, leading to additional resource commitments for PMNCH, visibility of women's and children's health issues in relevant forums, and consensus on evidence-based policy development and implementation;
SO 3: Promote accountability for resources and results, leading to better information to monitor PMNCH results, as well as better and more systematic tracking of how resource commitments are actually allocated.
Description of duties:
The Communications Officer will complete the following tasks:
- assist in identifying, prioritizing and writing content for the PMNCH website and other communication platforms;
- use social media and webspace and propose different ways of using these tools, to increase communication to and among PMNCH members and to improve the reach of PMNCH advocacy and communications;
- assist the Senior Technical Officer (Policy and Advocacy) develop of PMNCH corporate communications events, tools and materials;
- provide support to the PMMCH Secretariat with the implementation of identified projects;
- support the communication and advocacy efforts of the PMNCH Secretariat;
- when required, assist in the development of knowledge summaries;
- support the organization of events and advocacy initiatives targeting improved women's and children's health as needs arise;
- assist with other tasks within the PMNCH Secretariat, where required.
First university degree.

Knowledge of communication and media strategies, concepts and practices; ability to manage a complex series of competing priorities; ability to prioritize. Expertise and facility with a wide range of communications applications and software; excellent presentational skills.

At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
Experience in developing media and communication strategies would be an advantage.
Excellent knowledge of English is required.
Additional Information:
Priority will be given to internal candidates. A written test may be used for screening purposes. Other similar positions at the same level may be filled from this vacancy notice. This vacancy is published in English only.
As a WHO staff member assigned solely and exclusively to support NMC, selected staff will have no right of reassignment or transfer outside NMC either during or at the end of his/her appointment, including pursuant to WHO Staff Rule 1050. (This does not apply to WHO fixed-term staff members reassigned from a non-Partnership position).
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 37'154 at single rate
USD 39'388 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
