HQ/IVB - Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals (HQ/IVB)
The mission of the Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicials (IVB) is to work towards a world in which all people at risk are protected against vaccine preventable diseases, through work in three major areas: accelerating innovation, ensuring quality and safety, and maximizing access and linking with other programmes. The objective of the Expanded Programme on Immunization Team (EPI) is to maximize access to high quality immunization services, strengthen surveillance systems, and establish links to other interventions.This is done through: developing policies, strategies and tools and providing standardized resource materials and expertise in relation to immunization activities, surveillance and control of vaccine preventable diseases and links to other interventions; gathering, analyzing and disseminating evidence and information to guide policies and strategies to monitoring progress and impact, and to communicate the value of immunization, providing global oversight of demand of vaccines, supplies and equipment; and establishing and participating in global partnerships to support national programmes.
Description of duties:
Assigned Duties:
1. Day to day programme assistance to countries, regions and partners (Measles-Rubella [MR] Initiative, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization [GAVI] and Bill and Melinda GatesFoundation [BMGF]). Assist in work planning development and activity monitoring, including project management of measles and rubella activities at regional and country level. Make available on a timely basis information on plans, budgets, and programme activities. Facilitate documentation and sharing of processes, challenges, good practices and lessons learnt.
2. Serve as secretariat to the Measles and Rubella Initiative: Serve as point of contact for partners supporting measles and rubella activities. Organize regular meetings and conference calls among partners. Take the minutes of the meetings/conference calls and follow-up on the action points.
3. Ensure effective communication and efficient use of measles and rubella resources. Facilitate effective communication among partners around measles and rubella programme activities (including website, dropbox and/or SharePoint management). Develop system to effectively track budget implementation of measles and rubella funds. Draft and/or coordinate inputs into annual reports to donors to ensure they are of high quality and are submitted on time.
4. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in social science, health sciences international development, public affairs or related area. *For WHO staff please see e-manual III.4.1, para 220.
Demonstrated ability to manage and organize data, and write annual or donor reports. Ability to work as a team member and familiarity in working in a multi-cultural environment. Skilled at working with multiple stakeholders and building professional networks.
Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills in English or French, with knowledge of a second U.N language a strong advantage. Candidates should have extensive working experience with computer software packages, in particular, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint including work experience in managing data and producing graphics and maps.

Five years experience in a professional working environment with increasing responsibilities. Desirable
Experience in public health programmes or EPI would be preferred. Knowledge of United Nations administrative structure, WHO and its Regional Offices would be a strong advantage.
Excellent knowledge of English required. Working knowledge of French would be an asset.

$ 56091 at single rate
$ 60091 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
