The overall goal of DEX is to improve the accuracy, understanding and interpretation of (changes in) dietary exposure in studies on diet and cancer and other intermediate diseases. This group has a leading role in the development and validation of standardised dietary methodologies to estimate and monitor (changes in) dietary exposure and improve their integrated analyses in relation to diseases, particularly in international study settings. These activities rely on multi-disciplinary networks and international collaborations to support the dissemination and the implementation of the DEX dietary methodologies and related databases in existing/new cohorts and monitoring surveys worldwide. Based on its expertise on research infrastructures, large international epidemiological studies and dietary and other exposure data management and analyses, DEX also collaborates on the federation of the largest European cohorts with Biobanks under the framework of the "Biobanking and Biomolecular Research Infrastructure" (BBMRI-LPC) network.

Description of duties:
Within the framework of this and other international projects, the purpose of the position is to provide technical assistance in the management, maintainance, and harmonization/customization of data, software and methodologies related to dietary and other exposure assessment generated or under the responsibility of the DEX group. Duties include:

1) Prepare, maintain and customize datasets generated by DEX or received from partners;

2) Perform standard and ad hoc data analyses as required by the Group needs, including the preparation of presentation materials for regular and project-specific DEX meetings;

3) Assist in the review and evaluation of existing computer applications and methods for data assessment, harmonization and standardization according to standard protocols;

4) Assist in standardising variables across studies with diffferent designs and datasets;

5) Assist in developing new guidelines, procedures and roadmaps for data documentation and management to improve exposure data harmonization and standardization across countries/projects;

6) Conduct any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Essential: Graduation from secondary school with scientific orientation or equivalent, and subsequent specialized training in the field of data management, analysis or statistical methods, resulting in a recognized diploma (BTS, DUT or equivalent).

Desireable: A higher degree in a related field would be an asset.
Excellent knowledge and skills in all aspects of data management and analysis.
Ability to maintain, customize and evaluate databases.
Good programming skills of standard statistic and data management software such as SAS, ACCESS, and Excel.
Good communication skills.
Capacity to manage own workload and set priorities.
Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team/networks with people of diverse educational and cultural background.
Essential: At least four years relevant professional experience in data management systems and services and data analysis.
Previous experience of working with epidemiological data.

Desirable: work experience in international (epidemiological) studies.
Very good knowledge of English or French with a good working knowledge of the other.
Additional Information:
This recruitment is restricted to candidates residing up to a maximum of 50 kms from Lyons.

Salary : per annum Euro 34,861, net of tax.
