The immediate programme ensures the efficient management of all aspects of HR Planning and selection service for WHO-HQ including rotation and reassignment of locally recruited staff for all Headquarters based Programmes and Operations. Being a source of authoritative advice on practical HR planning and recruitment related funtions in particular. The programme functions as a one-stop-shop on all selection related issues.
Description of duties:
In relations to the departments/programmes the HR Assistant will carry out the following duties and responsibilities.
Recruitment of Fixed and Short-Term Staff (Professional and General Service)
1.Drafts and validates accuracy of vacancy notices, summarizing the substantive duties and
responsibilities of the position; ensures appropriate posting on the Intra/Internet, via standard distribution. Drafts appropriate screening questions;
2.Undertakes preliminary screening of applicants on the basis of agreed criteria; generates spreadsheet using the on-line recruitment system and makes preliminary recommendations to facilitate review by the HR specialist, hiring manager and subsequent selection panel;
3. Ensures all arrangements for interviewing and testing of prospective staff including preparing or supervising the preparation of recruitment panel files, scheduling interviews, arranging for video conferencing facilities, organizing travel as required, and monitoring of testing;
4. Conducts reference searches and enters candidate profiles in GSM;
5.Initiates preliminary version of selection panel reports (by inserting posting and screening
information) and prepares selection background for submission to approving authority;
6. Other duties as required.
Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
Essential: Proven skills in drafting and editing required. Knowledge and skills in IT applications and standard office software.
Desirable: Knowledge of general HR policy theory and procedures.

Essential: At least 5 years of experience in an administrative or secretarial capacity.
Desirable: Experience in a WHO administrative division, preferably Human Resources, to have a sound knowledge of its rules, regulations, procedures and practices as related to the work.
Excellent knowledge of English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.
Additional Information:
Priority to be given to internal candidates. A written test may be used for screening purposes. Other similar positions at the same level may be filled from this vacancy notice. This vacancy is published in English only.
Monthly salary: (Net of tax)
CHF 6257.75 at single rate
