OBJECTIFS DU PROGRAMME
The objective of the programme is to eradicate dracunculiasis from all Member States in Regional Office for Africa (AFRO)
by supporting countries to:
Maintain and strengthen nationwide surveillance of dracunculiasis in currently and formerly endemic countries (countries in pre-certification phase);
Prepare the required documents for certification of dracunculiasis eradication, through providing of guidance and technical support in drafting of national report on dracunculiasis eradication activities;
Organize and implement the missions of the International Certification Teams (ICT).
Description des fonctions
The incumbent is expected to provide technical expertise to countries by performing the following duties:

a)support advocacy and commitment of leaders and communities to Guinea worm Eradication (GWE)
b)contribute to design, implement, monitor and evaluate national dracunculiasis eradication programmes, particularly the pre-certification activities (surveillance and social mobilization);
c)provide technical expertise and support to the dracunculiasis endemic and the formerly endemic countries to ensure adequate surveillance for Dracunculiasis, including early detection of cases and quick responses, cross border surveillance and linkages with other programmes;
d)Support countries in pre-certification phase to prepare the required documents (National report) and carry out the activities for certification of eradication through providing of guidance and technical support;
e)Contribute to the preparation of the missions of the International Certification Teams (ICT) and participate in the missions, as needed;
f)Support operational research in implementation approaches and share best practices;
g)Ensure follow up of guinea worm disease surveillance data management, in collaboration with the countries and the regional Focal Person for guinea worm disease surveillance data management;
h)Share with the nationals the main findings of the mission and formulate relevant action points in order to improve pre-certification interventions in preparation for certification;
i)Perform other related duties, as required
QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Formation :
University degree in medicine with a post-graduate degree in public health or epidemiology.
Compétences :
Community-based surveillance;
Skills in Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response;
Technical, managerial and teaching competence in public health and community participation;
Very good skills in epidemiological analysis of data and information for action;
Ability to provide technical leadership, organization, programme management and performance evaluation.

Expérience :
Essential: At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in public health, with some years on disease surveillance and eradication at national and/or international level, preferably in Africa.
Desirable: Good knowledge of Primary Health Care and national health systems in AFRO Experience in disease surveillance
Langues :
Excellent knowledge of English or French and a working knowledge of the other.

US$ 67,483 fonctionnaire sans personnes à charge
US$ 72,467 fonctionnaire avec personnes à charge au premier degré
