Health Information Evidence an Research (IER)
 To enhance the capacity of member states to use relevant data and evidence in health sector management processes and decision making, through the development and application of health management and biomedical information systems and technology, strengthening national health research systems, and proper use Information Communication Technologies.
Description of duties:
1. To develop and evaluate the programmes on health information systems in the Region and provide advice to the Regional Director on priorities and ensure close cooperation with other related areas such as managerial process for national health development;
2. To prepare and validate budget proposals, evaluation methodology, and routine and special reports and documents related to health information systems within Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO);
3. To lead and provide support to national authorities in the development of plans and activities to strengthen the health information system including proper use of Information Technology and international standards in health information;
4. To provide technical advice on Western Pacific Region (WPR) databases including Country Health Information Profiles (CHIPs), Regional Health Information Intelligent Platform (HIIP) and health-related Millennium Development Goal (MDG) indicators to improve data sharing and application, data quality improvement at regional and country level;
5. To provide support to regional and country activities, namely:
(a) maintain/develop contacts to identify candidates and look into the sources of recruitment for staff and consultants and on administrative matters related to recruitment;
(b) provide technical advice on the selection of supplies and equipment; and
(c) provide technical support to WPRO Knowledge Management;
6. To organize training programmes for health information systems and plan and manage workshops and seminars for training and/or exchange of information of the programme; to collaborate with different networks and partner agencies in the development of curriculum and training materials on fellowship placements;
7. To collaborate with networks and agencies/institutions to promote the harmonization of approaches to health information systems;
8. To supervise the progress and activities of the health research policy programme; and
9. To perform other related duties as may be required.
Relevant master's level university degree is essential. Health related degree from a recognized university with postgraduate training in managing information systems is desirable.
Sound knowledge in the assessment, planning, development and implementation of projects and programmes on health information systems. Proficiency in standard MS Office applications and skills in database, spreadsheet and statistical programmes. Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

Minimum ten years relevant work experience is essential. Extensive working experience in developing countries on health information system development is desirable.
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Working knowledge of French would be an advantage.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD80 734 at single rate
USD86 904 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 59.1 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
