OBJECTIFS DU PROGRAMME
Implement cost-effective interventions through a multisectoral partnership aimed at reducing road traffic injury fatality as well as building capacity and raising awareness. Efforts in Kenya will focus on priority risk factors such as seat-belt, child restraint and helmet usage, drink driving and speed as well as enhancement of trauma care and data systems.

Description des fonctions
1. Develop the specific road safety country project in collaboration with WHO staff at headquarters, regional and country offices, consortium partners and local stakeholders. Facilitate the implementation of the road safety project in Kenya including liaising with relevant ministries, nongovernmental organizations, academics, WHO's regional and headquarter offices, consortium partners and other local road safety stakeholders;

2. Work with local and consortium partners to develop a road safety data management system for Kenya including a police accident database, fatal injury surveillance system, emergency room surveillance, etc. Work with local partners to
implement a pre-hospital and trauma care system for Kenya;

3. Organize meetings of project partners on a regular basis and prepare monthly written reports to WHO/HQ and AFRO on progress. Serve as the facilitating officer for additional components of the project related to budget, workshops, monitoring and evaluation (some of which may be lead by consortium partners);

4. Coordinate the overall administrative activities to ensure successful programme execution. Draft technical and financial quarterly reports for the donor, partners and other stakeholders;

5. Facilitate the collection of relevant country level data for inclusion in the Global road safety status report planned for publication in 2012;

6. Participate and assist with other road safety related meetings at country or regional level as required;

7. Perform any other duties assigned by WR/Kenya.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Formation :
Essential
University Degree in Medicine or Professions allied to Medicine, Social Sciences, Engineering or other related fields.

Desirable
Masters Degree in Public Health or Transport Engineering.

Compétences :
Wide experience in the area of Road Traffic Injuries as well as ability to work in a group as field team player;

Ability to work independently under pressure and deliver high quality work on time;

Effective behaviours;

Computer proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, Excel and Power Point

Expérience :
Essential
At least 7 years experience in Road Traffic Injury Prevention as Project Manager and Programme Evaluator in low or middle income countries. Teaching and training experience as a Team Leader.

Desirable
Experience in development of advocacy and awareness materials. Familiarity with the UN System in general and WHO System in particular.

Langues :
Excellent written and spoken English;
Good command of a local language would be an asset.
