HQ/IPS Insurance and Pension Services
The Department of Finance ensures that the financial management framework provides the required financial controls, reporting systems and procedures to meet the Organization's needs. It is therefore responsible for WHO's accounting policy and systems, corporate accounting, financial reporting, income and expenditure, donor accounting and reporting and treasury management policies.
The Department of Finance has also the responsibility for insurance and pension services including administration of operations and risk management relating to staff and other financial risks.
Description of duties:
Under the supervision of Coordinator IPS:
- act as the insurance (except SHI) risk policy and strategy focal point;
- assess risk exposure;
- propose improvements to insurance arrangements and participate in policy formulation in line with the insurance strategy established by WHO worldwide;
- formalize the Delegation of Authority for management of insurances;
- monitor operations related to insurances including provider performance and maintain an ongoing benchmarking process between WHO, other UN organizations and industry best practice;
- monitor and report on accounts (premiums, claims, administration cost and profit sharing) for all insurance policies;
- address audit recommendations in respect of insured risk management;
- perform other related duties as directed by either Coordinator IPS or Comptroller.
Advanced university degree in administration, finance, risk management or insurance.

Insurance and risk management qualifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience leading meetings or discussions;
ability to lead changes; motivation, creativity and flexibility; insurance management; risk management.

A minimum of three years insurance industry expertise within an overall minimum of seven years of progressive financial/managerial responsibility in a large, complex and international structure/entity; extensive financial and/or insurance management experience and a good understanding of the insurance industry.

Extensive insurance experience and specific knowledge related to personal insurance; experience related to the United Nations' system.
Excellent knowledge of English required. Excellent knowledge of French an asset.

USD 67483 at single rate
USD 72467 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 99.4 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
