OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To provide technical support in developing national policies and strategies in the area of health promotion, prevention and control of NCDs, mental health disorders and injuries; facilitate adoption of evidence based public health intervention in these areas; strengthen surveillance of NCDs and their risk factors and monitoring implementation of integrated NCD prevention programmes; integrating service delivery of Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) and Communicable Diseases (CD); promote equity of health care and universal health coverage for NCDs; capacity building and developing stronger networks
Description of duties:
Under the overall guidance of WR India and day-to-day supervision of Coordinator, Health Programmes and NPO- NDS, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

1. Assist in developing collaborative workplans with the Government in the area of NDS and ensure monitoring, evaluation, and implementation of workplans in a timely manner;
2. Technically review contractual proposals, make recommendations on relevance of proposal in relation to WHO priorities, methodology, feasibility and sustainability issues to the supervisors regarding WHO's support;
3. Provide technical assistance and support for WHO's normative work on guidelines, SOPs, framework etc to feature in relevant MOH&FW documents eg. M&E Framework and targets for prevention and control of NCDs;
4. Liaise with concerned technical units/ departments of MOH&FW to harmonize recommendations on policies and strategies relating to NDS to be suitably adapted to the country context;
5. Provide technical assistance in areas of advocacy to stakeholders and development of models on universal health coverage for NCDs, integrated service delivery for CDs and NCDs and bridging critical information gaps for NDS;
6. Collaborate with MOH&FW in identifying niche areas in NDS and undertake a gap analysis; support capacity building in these deficient areas to ensure that priorities are fulfilled;
7. Support information brokering/exchange function of WCO India through contributions to the health information repository at the WCO India by collation, analysis and sharing of relevant health information and statistics;
8. Prepare administrative and technical reports and undertake any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Degree in medicine or other health related subject from a recognized university

Desirable: Postgraduate degree or study in public health/ community medicine equivalent to an advanced university degree Training in Management and/ public health and/or Public Health administration
Skills:
Functional Knowledge and Skills :
Broad based knowledge of the country's needs and priorities in various area of NDS, good administrative knowledge of functioning of ministries and other related departments/ agencies; demonstrated ability to work to work in harmony with national/ international staff and maintaining poise even in difficult situations. Leadership situations. Leadership qualities with ability to work in team. Ability to make oral and written presentations on technical issues. Knowledge of computer applications.

Experience:
Essential: At least two (2) years of professional experience in the development and implementation of health programmes at national level in the area of NCDs and social determinants of health with a focus on prevention and control
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Hindi
Additional Information:
THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO LOCAL RECRUITMENT AND WILL BE FILLED BY AN INDIAN NATIONAL FROM WITHIN INDIA.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
INR 12,29,770 at single rate
